Fish and Wildlife Service Proposes Rule That May Restrict Access to Algodones Dunes in California
August 14, 2007 – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has published a proposed rule designating critical habitat for the Peirson’s milk-vetch plant within the Algodones Dunes of Imperial County, CA. Should the proposed rule be implemented, the approximately 16,108 acres of land subject to the ruling would be eligible for special management considerations or protections, i.e., OHV use restrictions. Some of the possible management restrictions under consideration include: 1) Use restrictions based on a permit system that would allow a specified level of use (high, medium, low, no use); 2) temporally based closures or limitations (open during some months or years, closed in others); 3) recognition and management of certain areas within a management area; and/or 4) increased education and outreach to OHV users to avoid certain areas. Additional enforcement of compliance may also be considered.

The Service is holding two public hearings on the proposed rule on August 23. The first meeting will go from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The second will go from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both meetings will be held at:

Well this is rifgt down the street from me and I can't make toady and it pisses me off.

I need to retire heck this work thing that gets in the way of life
